Golfing in Las Vegas
- Twilight Information for Las Vegas Courses -

Change to full version

I continually get email about the twilight rates and when they begin. For a while I tried to keep up with the change in rates and starting times, but it changes so often that it was almost a weekly occurrence on calling. That got to be a little much. I too want to have time to play, sort of work, and still keep up with this web site. So I quit keeping track of the twilight rates. However, below you will find a guide to the sunrise-sunset times for the whole year, month by month. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how much time you will have playing at those rates.

A note about Las Vegas Twilight Rates - most of the courses offer twilight rates although they are not always actual twilight but can also reflect times that are slow or "Off Peak" times due to the heat or lateness of the day. As a general rule, twilight rates begin about 4-5 hours before sunset. During the winter months you may not be able to get 18 holes completed. During the summer, some of the rates begin as early as 11-12:00, reflecting slow time because of the heat. With the summer sunset time being late, you will get in all 18 holes, but PLEASE be cautious of the heat. As a general rule, refrain from too much beer but drink lots of water. Save the beer for the 19th hole and you will be able to withstand the heat a lot easier.

A note about the summer temperatures: They can be misleading! These are "Official" temperatures taken at McCarren Airport. I have seen our highs reach 122º at my house (2001) but typically the summer runs about 105-110º for the day time. It can run for weeks never getting below 100º, and that is at midnight! Don't believe that saying "But it's a dry heat with out the humidity" - well, so is an oven! What is listed above are the "Average" temperatures.
