Las Vegas is open 365 days per year for golf! Well, the city is - not all the courses are. With the weather permitting all year around play, some time must be set aside to change from summer grass to winter grass. But that's all right - it lets us play with green grass instead of that brown looking junk during the winter months. As inconvient as it is, it is really worth it in the long run. Besides, with all the course that are available, not all of them are closed at same time. (That would be the kiss of death for Las Vegas Golf!) To make it easier to pick a course for your play during the months of late August, September and October, I have listed below the dates of overseeding. Plan your trip accordingly.
    Some special notes about the overseeding process.
  • Some courses, during this time may have special conditions. Example: the week prior to the first week of closure, you will play the front nine twice. Then the course will close for a week or two. When re-opened, you will play the back nine twice. After that normal 18 play resumes. Check with the course you are interested in playing for any special playing conditions.
  • Generally, one week before closure for overseeding, the courses are allowed to dry out. This will produce a hard surface when the ball lands (giving you some bonus roll).
  • During overseeding, the courses are closed to public play.
  • When the course re-opens for play, generally they have a "Cart Path Only" rule for about 3 -4 weeks. This will give the new grass additional time to establish itself, without the usual heavy cart traffic.
