Loews, Lake Las Vegas Resort
The
Loews, Lake Las Vegas Resort, Spa and Casino is more sophisticated,
welcoming, relaxing and yes quiet than any Las
Vegas hotel you've ever seen. This is a temple to soothing piece
of mind rather than a shrine to gambling.
Stepping into the lush, subdued lobby is like stepping into another Las Vegas world, one most people do not even know exists.
"There's not a single neon sign," the hotel's travel sales manager Eileen Crawford said, proudly.
This is Lake Las Vegas, the $4.4-billion, 2,242-acre vision of eccentric developer R.F. Boeddeker that sits 17 miles and another universe away from The Strip. It is a place where golf is held in even higher regard than Lord Gambling, with Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf designed showcase public courses (Reflection Bay and The Falls respectively) a few minutes down the road from each other and a Tom Fazio dream scheme Rainbow Canyon set to open in the fall of 2006. Loews, Lake Las Vegas touts its golf options more than its gaming options.
And with this lineup of famous golf architects, it's easy to see why.
"If you just look at it from a consumer standpoint, we're going to have a Fazio, a Nicklaus and a Weiskopf all in the same area, a few minutes drive from each other,'' said Reflection Bay head pro Dan Romstead. "That's hard to beat."
And that's not even all there is. Loews, Lake Las Vegas also offers easy access to the two courses at the Revere Golf Club, which bring revolutionary thinking to the usual golf scene.
When you're not on a course, the Loews, Lake Las Vegas will enchant with its plethora of options. Spa Mouley is one of the top palaces to relaxation in the West, offering nine different treatment rooms and a cornucopia of massage choices.
If that sounds too relaxing for you, don't worry. There's plenty to provide an adrenalin rush at the Loews, Lake Las Vegas as well. This is a resort with its own Adventure Concierge (no kidding). The staff here can set up trips through the nearby natural countryside in jeeps and Hummers. Nearby natural wonders Lake Mead, the Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam add to the allure.
Of
course, if you're going for a golf vacation, you might want to leave the kids
behind for a few hours. The resort offers the frequently-copied and praised
Camp Loews program - activities for kids like arts and crafts, fishing and mud
castle building chaperoned by licensed childcare workers - to that end.
Then again, spend a lot of time here and you may keep finding yourself drawn back to your room. They are some of the biggest and most comfortable surroundings in Las Vegas, set on 25 acres of waterfront that will make you forget you are so close to the hustle and bustle of the Strip (a short drive away).
Be warned though: a stay here may make you leave those other noisy Las Vegas hotels behind forever.
